About island

The Island of Brač is covered with pine and cypress forest and lined with lovely bays. The sunny hills of Brač are ideal for vineyards that yield tasty grapes used to make extraordinary wines. Ever since ancient times Brač residents have exploited the rock quarries near Pučišća on the northern side of the island to build their houses. The very same beautiful stone from Brač was used for the White House in Washington and in the Diocletian Palace in Split. However, Brač is best known for its paradise beach Zlatni Rat in Bol, which is frequently among the ten most beautiful beaches in the world. Brač is rich in history, a beautiful island of unique spirit and exquisite beauty. The breathtaking landscape is filled with exquisite traditional houses enhanced with modern quality. You can never go wrong purchasing a property on Brač, a fantastic decision beyond any shadow of a doubt.

Culture

Several early Middle Ages monasteries and many small churches are scattered in the inner part of the island and are still in use today. The socio-cultural development of Brač residents is reflected in the Brač Statute, which was used to govern the population from the 13th to the 18th centuries. The well-developed culture of living is seen through the palaces of Brač nobility, as well as through the architecture of the homes of mariners, farmers and fishermen. Renaissance art and culture flourished on the Island of Brač, as was the case on the entire Dalmatian coast, leaving an abundant heritage in churches, chapels and palaces with sculptures and reliefs.

Gastronomy

Brač "nonas" (grannies) have passed on a rich gastronomic heritage based on healthy, accessible and indigenous ingredients grown in gardens and olive groves on Brač. Being creative as they were, they used their homegrown ingredients to make incredibly delicious meals for every occasion, still served as genuine Brač cuisine - Dalmatian cuisine. Wine, cheese, olives, oil, prosciutto, salted fish, and especially fresh fish grilled to perfection – are all parts of the whole considered authentic Brač delicacies. Meat lovers can enjoy delicious lamb, yet another gastronomic specialty of the island. Brač restaurants are among the best in the Adriatic region, a frequent “must visit” by international famous stars from all segments of public life during their summer cruises in Croatia.

Sport and nature

Goat breeding has been a legacy of the Island of Brač since ancient times, as well as sheep breeding for milk used to make famous Brač cheese towns and villages in the inland part of the island. If you are lucky enough, you might be pleasantly surprised to see wild horses grazing in the highlands of the eastern part of the island. More than 130 bird species either live on the island during the winter and summer periods, or swoop by during their journey to other destinations, rendering the island a true ornithological paradise. The pleasant Mediterranean climate is perfect for vegetation, dominated by oak and native Aleppo pine that grow up to 300 meters above sea level, creating pleasant shade, as well as black pine with its wonderful scent. In this pristine Dalmatian environment, you can surf, dive, ride a bike, either on beautifully landscaped trails or "off-road", or play tennis on new modern tennis courts.
