The neighborhood, which used to be a green oasis near the city center, was named after the abundance of wild cherries that grew in the vast and vast fields. Since then, until today, Trešnjevka has been known as a "workers' district" primarily due to its excellent connections with all parts of Zagreb, both road and public transport. The abundance of residential buildings, schools, crafts, and shops makes this neighborhood dynamic and exciting. Despite the urbanization, it has managed to retain old Zagreb's atmosphere and charming atmosphere.

Culture

The Trešnjevka Cultural Center takes care of various manifestations, events, and workshops in culture, dance, film, and fine arts. Also, there is the inevitable Cherry Theater. Every theater season, carefully choosing titles and directors creates new plays with educational tasks, with the mission to make children happy, take them on fairytale trips, and stimulate imagination and creativity. Trešnje's ensemble consists of the most sought-after actors in Croatia, and the plays are created by top directors such as Dora Ruždjak Podolski and Rene Medvešek.

One of the first associations in this neighborhood is the cult Trešnjevka plot, where you can find home-grown and organically grown fruits, vegetables, fish, and meat every morning. In addition to fresh delicacies, this old Zagreb plot hides some of the best snack bars where indigenous local dishes are prepared.
