Thermal resort is situated in central Istria and to the northwest part of the Istrian peninsula. The road is the fastest linked to Buzet on the one hand and Motovun and meadows on the other side (approx. 10km). Geographically and administratively largely belongs to the municipality of Oprtalj. Depending on the destination, from the coast of the northwestern part of Istria (Porec, Novigrad, Umag) is about 35 km to 40 km. With completion of the new road linking Ponte Porton improved connection to the mainland. To the Slovenian border is 10 km to Italy about 40 km.

The health resort complex '' Istrian Spa '' was built at the source of thermal mineral water Saint Stephen. The current source is used in the function of the spa.

The Istrian thermal springs has a total of 400 beds in 3 accommodation facilities. Accommodation facilities are not categorized as rating because it is health resort. Most of the accommodation is in the "Mirna" A part where the renovated rooms at the 3 * and B is part of the level 2 *. All rooms have a bathroom and heating. In late 2007, Health Resort had 112 employees compared to 2012 fell to 72 employees excluding the cleaning of outsourcing that has taken over 11 employees. 2021. it has 35.

They are located on the right bank of the river, below the 85 m high rock, which is a visual symbol of this spa, on top of the rocks are the ruins of the church of St. Stephen, in 1882 transferred to the foot of the rock. According to the balneologic characteristics tested water has strong balneological properties by mineralization, sulfur (hydrogen sulfide) radioactivity and temperature.

Natural healing properties of water: the water of Istarske Toplice is sulfur, thermal, contains natural radiation, and a significant amount of sodium, calcium, chlorine and other minerals. Its exceptional healing properties set Istarske toplice apart from other thermal springs and ranked them third in Europe in terms of quality.
