About region

Golden plains, colorful meadows dotted with flowers and vast fields full of delicious fruits are probably the first images that come to mind when Slavonia and Baranja are mentioned. However, you should certainly not forget that a part of Slavonia also consists of a mountain landscape. Papuk, Krndija, Dilj gora, Psunj and Požeška gora rise proudly like islands in the rich Pannonian Sea. This region can boast of well-known hospitable hosts who will welcome you with a cheerful smile with their home-made delicacies. Beautiful nature, peace and rest away from the hustle and bustle of the city is what awaits you when you arrive in Slavonia and Baranja. In addition to beautiful cities, rich cultural and historical heritage and fantastic gastronomy, in the east of Croatia you can also find some of the most beautiful natural phenomena of our country.

Culture

Located on the shores of the former Pannonian Sea, Slavonia is proud of the most beautiful cathedral from Venice to Istanbul, horses as white as snow, noble castles and the advanced culture of Vučedol. The Golden Valley, as the Romans called it, rushes to meet the mighty waves of Mr. Danube and two ladies, Drava and Sava, and in the process creates the splendor of nature where the most beautiful sunflowers bloom and the best vines grow. Throughout history, the fertile Slavonian land has attracted numerous nobles, whose version of the Game of Thrones you can experience by visiting numerous castles. Rich history will weave under your feet in all Slavonic cities.

Gastronomy

Slavonia can boast of a multitude of gastronomic products precisely because of agriculture, which is one of the main industries engaged in by Slavonians. There is no product that cannot come from the household and the hardworking hands of the Slavonian population. The specialty of Slavonia's gastronomy lies in its original autochthonousness due to various interesting ways and methods of food preparation, recipes that grandmothers still keep and pass on to younger generations. As far as gastronomic tourism is concerned, Slavonia counts many tourist visits precisely because of its unique food and way of eating, various gastronomic events based on local specialties such as fish, cvarak, shepherd's pie, fish and brandy, and various cooking competitions. The common point of contact for all of the above is precisely - food. Special and unique that can only be tried in Slavonia.

Sport and nature

Birdwatching enthusiasts will enjoy the ornithological paradise of the Kopački rit Nature Park, where around 270 species of birds visit each year. The best way to get to know the Papuk Nature Park is by walking, and the walker has several different trails on which he can experience all the diversity and beauty of the landscape. The trips are suitable for everyone and require a minimum of equipment. More and more recreationists fill their free time with cycling. Beautiful landscapes and forest paths on a mountain bike leave no one indifferent. Driving in canoes and SUVs will delight any adrenaline junkie, who in this way has the opportunity to directly experience untouched nature. Visitors to the Lipizzan horse stables can enjoy horseback riding and rides in peasant carts and carriages.
