Rules for preparation - it is important to light a fire with good wood and let it burn and turn into embers. The food is cooked and baked at the same time. It is mostly used to prepare veal, lamb and octopus. Domestic Dalmatian wines, especially red, are among the best quality in the Mediterranean. In recent years, traditional winegrowing families have produced really high-quality wines in accordance with world trends, but respecting tradition and using the climatic benefits of this climate.

Sport and nature

Makarska abounds in various sports facilities. At the Sports Center sports complex in the Osejava area, there are playgrounds for football, basketball, rugby, handball, tennis, athletics, and playgrounds for small sports. There are 20 active sports clubs and societies in Makarska. The fishing club 'Arbun' and the sailing club 'Bura', the water polo club, the rugby club and many others are the organizers of many competitions and events during the tourist season and participate in the program of the Makarska cultural summer.
