One of the most famous city districts in Zagreb is located on the slope of Medvednica, just above Vlaška Street. Sports-recreation Center Šalata is the venue of some of the biggest open-air concerts and shows in Zagreb. Let's say that Šalata is the cradle of music, that hosts an array of popular performers - from rock'n'roll, jazz, pop, to the excellent Zagreb Philharmonic. In addition to music, Šalata is also known for numerous sports activities and events, and because of this diversity of offerings, we are sure that everyone can find something for themselves at Šalata.

Gastronomy

Due to the fact that Šalata is primarily a family district, it is not greatly known for bars and restaurants but there are certainly several places that we should highlight. You can start your day with a cup of coffee in the "Torte i to" cake shop on Babonićeva street, and grab something sweet in the afternoon. You can also try the traditional cuisine in the Kod Pere (At Pero’s) restaurant, a place that has become increasingly popular in the past few years, as well as the Zelenjak restaurant. If you are in the mood for pizza, you will surely find a perfect combination of flavours to your taste at 'Žac'!

Sport and nature

Besides being known for concerts, Sports-recreation Center Šalata is the main gathering place for sports enthusiasts. On one of the 30 sports fields, you have the opportunity to play soccer, basketball or enjoy a game of tennis. From winter sports, hockey and skating should be highlighted. You can find them at Šalata skating rink that was built in 1928 and is one of the most famous and beautiful sports facilities in this part of Europe to this day. On Šalata, you will certainly be able to dive into an Olympic sized pool, and if you prefer running or walking there are numerous beautiful parks in this neighbourhood.
