Pula Airport, located 82 kilometres south of Umag, is the nearest Croatian airport. However, Trieste Airport in Italy may also be a convenient option. In fact, Trieste Airport is around 52 kilometres closer to Umag than Pula Airport.

The history of Umag

Umag was settled by the Romans in its early history and, like much of Istria, became part of the Venetian Republic in 1248. Following the fall of Venice, the town came under Austrian rule and was later governed by Italy until 1943, before becoming part of Yugoslavia in 1953.
